Our History

Mike’s Ice has always been a close family business with family members playing a role in the Company’s early development and expansion.  Founded in 1972 by businessman and air conditioning and refrigeration specialist Leslie “Topper” Brown and his son Michael Brown a mechanical engineer.  Mike’s Ice was granted the first business licence to manufacture ice on the Island, manufacturing tube ice from their first ice plant on Walkers Road. In 1979 Mike’s brother, Richard Goubault joined the team bringing his extensive refrigeration and air conditioning credentials and expertise to the team.  There is a lingering tale that in the early days ice was delivered to customers in a Mercedes Benz!

By 1992 due to growth and expansion in the group of family businesses, Mike’s Ice relocated to the Mirco Centre in Industrial Park remaining there until the opening of their new state of the art facility off Breezy Way in Industrial Park in 2016.

From the very onset the business has been centered on providing excellent customer service.  Under new leadership yet still operating as a family owned business Mike’s Ice boasts a small team of friendly, goal oriented employees motivated by their fast-paced working environment.
